End of Semester – Progess / Ransomware hits pipelines

Today marks a few things off my calendar, for starters this was finals week which is apparently always a stressful event. While I’ve completed over five courses this semester the challenge of these courses weren’t new and I’m glad it’s behind me. On to more pressing matters, this website will be updated weekly with thoughts, templates, and personal projects. The purpose behind these blogs is to have a ongoing discussion that hopefully gains traction with an open dialogue on suggestions, or comments to stay informed in Information Security.

Colonial Pipeline Ransomware has hit the United States this week and this one stands out as Ransomware-as-a-Service is erupting in demand. What does this mean for cybersecurity? The road never ends and apparently we have more security hardening that needs to address the issue at hand. According to a CNET article “The FBI blamed Darkside, a hacking group, for the attack.” As we progress throughout the year we’re seeing an ongoing use of ransomware against various agencies as this being another hit. While the effects of this attack are ongoing with a state of emergency we can imagine ideally executive actions to take place.
